Why Aren't You Watching The Office? (fresh post from a new blog)

I've got a new blog up, and it's strictly about entertainment. Movies, television, music, games and more, that way i continue to post nothing of interest here. Oh, i went there alright. It's not great and the design sucks (i lost most of the original designs, just like this one). But it will be fixed soon enough.

So here, word for word, is the post that kicks it off. It's about awesomeness that is The Office. Don't worry, this will be the only time posts will cross over.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Howdy, welcome to the side blog of me, Juice McNizzle. On my other blog, Scribbles, i often felt stupid posting much about the entertainment industry. Not sure why. It's more interesting then my own life. Seriously, why talk about what i had for supper, who i ran into or what i could have done when i could talk about who got killed off on Lost, how cool Grissom is or count the times Oprah has brought me to my knees in a teary rampage. She has a gift.

Real life sucks.

Anyhow, to start off this probably already failed blog, i'm going to talk about TV. You know, that screen that doesn't have MSN or free porn (ha).

There are a number of shows on television that just never, ever get watched or appreciated. Some of those shows are even good. Very few are fantastic (need i mention Sports Night or Freaks and Geeks?). Hell, that could be said about anything on TV, really. But, when it comes to quality vs. ratings, ratings will always win. It's a business. Sadly.

So with that, i'll start this junk off with a show i think everyone should be watching.

The Office (Tuesdays at 9, NBC)

I found myself in a weird spot with The Office.

When i heard they were making an American remake of a classic British show, i almost died. For a time when remakes and sequels seem to be released more then original products, and most of these being horrible at best, this had bad idea written all over it. Even with Steve Carell, i was expecting some horrid results (not because of him, i must add). But, could you blame me? Like i said, remakes are a dime a dozen and American sitcoms are dying a really slow death. But, the minute i started watching the pilot episode (nearly re-creating its source material) i was laughing. Some would argue that it's because it was modeled after the British version. And that could've been the case...

If every episode after that didn't get better and better to the point where i'm actually thinking, "this is actually too good for TV."

In less than 2 seasons (the first being only 6 bloody episodes) The Office has shot up to the number one slot of my favourite shows (probably Tied with the not-so-ratings-deprived Lost and Scrubs--i suck with lists). The writing is top notch, the situations range from "so real it hurts" to "so crazy it could happen" and they nailed the awkwardness of the original. But above all else, they have one of the funniest casts in recent memory.

Michael Scott (Steve Carell) is perfect as the boss that tries way too hard to be cool with his employees, only to look less and less cool with every attempt. The second season has added a lot of depth to Michael's character, something that took me by surprise. I just love what they did with him. Dwight Schruites' character (played by Rainn Wilson) is just too "unique" of a character for description. Watch an episode to see what i mean. Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) and Pam Beesley (played by the adorable Jenna Fishcer) play off each other flawlessly. It's obvious these two belong together. Too bad that Pam is engaged and both are blind to the others' affection. The joking and the sadness played out by these two is one of the greatest assets to the show (i'm a sucker for this kind of thing, what can i say). And finally, Ryan (B.J. Novak) does an excellent job of being the temp in The Office's strange world. Being the new guy is never easy. Especially not here.

Not only do these characters feel and act real (god, i hope there's a Dwight out there for me to torture) but their supporting cast are just as three-dimensional. The background cast, filled with writers, actors and even casting directors, have just as many brilliant moments as the main cast. I think 'Scrubs' is the only show on TV right now to pull this off.

One thing i am sick of (but it's unavoidable) is the constant comparison to the British series. I know it's foundation for this show, but the cast and crew have built a completely different experience. Even when some elements are borrowed, they take another direction or spin it around. My cred will be lost to most in just a second (my first post, no less), but i have to say this: i enjoy the American office more than the British version. Seriously. If that's not blasphemy, then what is? This coming from a guy who used to LIVE off of British shows (Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Bottom, The Young Ones, and so on).

I'm sorry, i cannot help but gush over this show. I have yet to see an episode that hasn't made me tear up from laughter. It's also one of most quotable shows i've ever seen. But sadly, not everyone will appreciate its humour. I have failed time and time again to get anyone into this show. The least people can do is give it a try.

And if it's not for me, watch it for the cuteness that is Jenna Fischer. She's just awesome. And cute.

It's Horrible!

New design. Not the one i wanted, though. My computer is losing files/folders at an alarming rate and i lost about 5 blog designs i came up with (not to mention folders upon folders of digital pictures and whatnot). I was sick of staring at my old blog. Now my blog matches my failed website! Hooray for negativity!

Gah, sorry. It's just been a bad few days. Nothing has been going right. But things will pick up. And i will be the Juicy you all fell for that hot summer night when we were too in love to think and too drunk to care.

Ahh... memories.

Tomorrow (or later today, or whatever) i'll be adding something new. Excited? You shouldn't be. Trust me.

Anyhow, goodbye old blog! You were fun whle you lasted.

Oh, and new blog: don't get too comfortable.

Sorry i haven't posted in a while. It must've been hell for you.

Zombie

Excuse the style of writing. Title says it all.

Been writing too long. Been writing like a madman. That feels so funny to type and read. Photoshop has been replaced. For now, anyways.

I just started a treatment to an old project. Well, i'm redoing an old treatment. Va-va-voom!

But i'm tired. No sleep last night and i was asked to work a double shift. Wouldn't be so bad if i could eat. But i can't. I had to cancel two doctor appointments this week due to work. I feel like shit. But money is needed, as sad as that sounds.

Even as i sit at my computer typing, i listen to music through my zen micro. I don't know why. I have stereo equipment and more songs on my computer. I loaded it up recently with craploads of cd's i haven't heard in ages. Fastball, anyone? Fire escape is still an awesome song.

What carpal tunnel?

Been sketching, jotting down notes and photoshopping for over 6 hours now. I haven't been like this for a while.

I think it's all going to work out. I pray it'll all work out.

Bryan, if you read this, we have some conversing to do when we both have time. Well, when you have time. You have a life. Showoff.

Posts may not happen as much as they used to for a couple of weeks. But knowing me, i'll still post. Who needs sleep, anyways? Not I.

Not I.

Seacrest out. Or something.
